Outstanding innovations with new technical developments provided the cornerstone for numerous awards won by Pöttinger at international trade fairs in the autumn of 2009. The Development Department managed by Wolfgang Schremmer made a significant contribution. In April, the Head of Development for many years will enter well-earned retirement. Dr. Markus Baldinger, a Pöttinger employee, will ensure the continued success of this department.

A pioneer stands down
Wolfgang Schremmer started work at Pöttinger in 1973 as manager of the Testing Department and in 2003 also took on management of the hay making machinery Design Department. In 2007 the thoroughbred engineer was promoted to Senior Manager of Product Development, a department he led with dedication and skill. The agile 63-year-old looks forward to spending more time in retirement travelling and enjoying sports.

Dr. Markus Baldinger to take over Development Management
Following his studies in mechatronics and his thesis on robotics, Dr. Markus Baldinger (40) started working for Pöttinger in 2000 as Manager of Mechatronic Engineering. In 2007 he took over leadership of the Testing and Mechatronic Departments and from 1st April 2010 onwards will head the Development Department at the machinery manufacturing plant in Grieskirchen / Austria.

Product Development at Pöttinger is divided into the Design, Research/Modelling, Instrumentation and Testing, Mechatronic and Simulation departments. At three locations (Grieskirchen (AT), Bernburg (DE) and Vodnany (CZ)) there are a total of 100 people involved in this sector. "Pöttinger continues to develop its product range. Cost-effectiveness, reducing energy costs, soil and crop protection, plus intelligent technology are the key criteria in the development of our machines. Attractive design is also part of the philosophy. Dr. Baldinger, the new Development Manager, will continue to push forward technical advancement at Pöttinger with our award-winning team of innovators", confirms Technical Director, Klaus Pöttinger.
